| | Part 3: Challenge (Christian Action) | ||
| | Daily | Parish | Community |
| Objective | To live one’s life in a Christian manner, spreading the Gospel of Christ in both word and deed. | Become involved in a meaningful way (as determined by the confirmand) in the parish. | To not be afraid to discuss the faith with friends and the wider community. If time permits for the confirmand, they are encouraged to become involved in greater community service. |
| How it Relates to Confirmation | To realize that one cannot separate the Gospel of Christ from how we live daily, in the way we treat others and ourselves. | To realize that it is impossible to be a Christian in isolation, that it is through praying together, building each other, and sharing our common experiences at the Parish and through the Sacraments that we can live a true life of Faith. | Being a Christian does not mean being a passive player in our community and world. Christ calls us to action to transform the world and to share the Gospel with all communities, peoples, and nations. |
| Details | The fundamentals of the faith will be explored at a deeper level than before, with the focus on exploring & answering the questions candidates have regarding the faith. | A ministries booklet will be provided for ideas on how to become involved in Parish life. | Examples of service placements include: Immaculate Conception Drop-In Center – Valerie Forrest (453-9243) Winnipeg Harvest - 982-3663 Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home - 889-2650 Misericordia Health Center: Fr Herner 788-8285 (helping patients to Mass) Hospital Volunteer City of Winnipeg Volunteer Services – Dorthy Caldwell 986-3009 Youth Volunteer Opportunities - www.myvop.ca Elementary School - contact teacher or principal Ask Community Service co-ordinator at your high school. |
