Dear Confirmation Candidates, Parents, and Sponsors:
Firstly, thank you to all who attended the information evening. If however, you were unable to attend the confirmation meeting and are interested in registering for this year’s confirmation program please contact the confirmation team via the confirmation website (by clicking here).
We are very appreciative of the many comments, concerns, and feedback that parents provided us with regarding this year’s program. A few of the concerns we have already meet about and made moves to address.
One of the concerns that were raised by some parents was a concern of overlap between the information presented to candidates from St Mary’s Academy or St Paul’s High School. When developing the program this was a major consideration for many on the team as well. To determine what materials are covered in high school, we have met with religion teachers from St. Mary’s Academy in addition to recalling the personal experience of many on the confirmation team when they were at SPHS. We have structured the program to minimize any overlap, and are confident that when it is inevitable and necessary to cover similar themes, the content/information will be presented in a unique and angle form from that at either St Mary’s or St Paul’s.
The second concern that was raised was regarding the two-year duration of the confirmation program. Although, we feel that the second year is an important component of the program, we believe that it would be most beneficial to regroup at the end of the first year and discuss the possibilities regarding a second year for those who choose to participate in it at that point. In other words, do not be hesitant to join the program because of the second year. While it is highly encouraged, we will evaluate it as an option to be discussed in spring of 2010.
On a final closing note there may be some confusion regarding a conflict of dates between two documents that were circulated during the information session. Please note that the dates posted on the website (click here) are considered authoritative.
